Canplex worked with Eastman during the early development of extrusion processing techniques for Provista™. Our team successfully produced early extruded profile samples that Eastman subsequently used to help introduce the material to the industry.
It is an example of our longstanding willingness to explore new materials, solve processing challenges and develop practical manufacturing solutions. We continue that work today, including hands-on exploration of PHA corner guards in our own shipping operations.

At Canplex, innovation is something we put into practice. We have extruded pallet corner guards using 100% bio-based, biodegradable PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoates) and are introducing them into our own packaging operations.

A high-volume customer program presented an opportunity to rethink how finished profiles were handled and packaged. We recognized the potential for a more integrated manufacturing process and the production volume to justify investing in a dedicated automation solution.
Working with a specialist automation partner, Canplex developed and integrated a multi-stage automated packaging system directly into our extrusion operation.
The result is a continuous manufacturing process — from raw plastic pellets entering the extruder’s hopper to finished profiles packaged and ready for shipment. All within a single integrated production line.
We assess the entire manufacturing process, not just the profile. When the economics justify it, we bring together in-house production knowledge and specialist partners to implement practical solutions.
